I read an interesting blog today about the safe cycling campaign, spearheaded by The Times.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to add to the points raised by the author. In his argument, the author raises the cost of cycling per person in the Netherlands (£25) and what The Times is arguing for (£1.94).
The Netherlands, whilst having a far superior cycle network to England, has a considerably smaller population – 16,612,213 in 2010, compared to 62,218,761.
As a relative cost on the same scale of The Netherlands in the UK, there would be a cost of £6.67 per person or £415 million.
